Day 1. Go to the Beach - so many great beaches and beach parks in Brevard County! In fact, Brevard County beaches are the closest beaches to Orlando! From Orlando take the Bee Line, Route 528 due east to I95, then head south on I95 and get off at Route 520 for Cocoa Beach, or Route 518 Eau Gallie Blvd for Paradise Beach (turn right when you get to the beach ,it is across the street from CVS) or get off at US 192 to go to Indialantic, Melbourne Beach and Sebastian Inlet. Cocoa Beach and Sebastian Inlet are famous for surfing. For fun just drive down A1a and stop at any beach park and you will find uncrowded lovely beaches. There are life guards, restaurants and shops at Cocoa Beach and Indialantic. My favorite beach is at the Sebastian Inlet State Park. it has crystal clear water, beautiful blue-green color, fishing pier, snack booth, restrooms and showers. if you have small children look for the area to the west where the water is shallow and there are no waves- perfect for the little ones to play! Day 2. Go to Cocoa Beach - Visit Ron Jon' the world's best known surf shop, it is an adventure in itself, great shopping and wonderful surf attitude! Hang out at the beach cafes and bas at the pier and enjoy the music and fun. Day 3. Visit the intra-costal - Indian River - see Manatees, fish off the causeway or pier, visit the many parks on the river. Great for fishing, picnics and relaxation. Best place to see Manatees in the winter is near the Pineda Causeway and Patrick's Airforce base on South Patrick Rd. (Pindea Exit off I95, then exit at Patrick Airforce Base) The water is warm ,and they hang there for winter. If you are driving on South Patrick from the Pineda Causeway towards Eau Gallie Blvd. (south) you will see a small bridge on the left hand side, usually with lots of cars pulled off the side of road. That's where folks are watching the manatees play. Consider booking a tour on the Indian River by boat or kayak. Day 4. Kennedy Space Center - One day is often not enough, so go early and stay late to see all the displays, IMAX and maybe even meet a astronaut or see a rocket lift off. Check NASA's launch schedule, they send something into space about once a month. Day 5. Explore the National Seashore park near the Space Center and go to the Astronaut Hall of Fame. Space Center tickets from the day before get you into the Astronaut Hall of Fame too. Day 6. Brevard County Zoo on Pineda Blvd. Near I95 one of the best zoo's in the southern USA. You can feed the giraffes and see alligators and crocodiles up-close safely. Day 7. Back to the beach to relax and soak up the sun, head out to Sebastian Inlet if you didn't go the first day More information about the Spacecoast and Brevard County |
